Big turn out as TV is Changing Campaign Visits Manchester & Liverpool

The TV is Changing Seminars in Liverpool and Manchester were a resounding success with 65 people in attendance in Liverpool and over a 100 people in Manchester. The meetings were attended predominately by Equity members but producers, agents, casting directors and other industry professionals came and participated in the event. (more…)

Equity & C4 extend Video on Demand deal

Extended Video on Demand agreement builds on success

At its April meeting Equity council endorsed the proposal to extend the existing Video on Demand (VoD) agreement with Channel 4 for its 2008 service. An adjustment to the fees paid under the the earlier 2006/7 VoD agreement was also agreed.

New Media Deals now available

On Sunday May 18 at the Annual Representative Conference, Equity launched New Media Deals, a document that sets out the progress the union has made thus far in agreeing terms on productions for mobile phones, podcasts, internet-only broadcast and computer games. The document contains sample agreements that Equity has already agreed for performers working in these areas and contains a useful guide to common terms in new media productions.

Video on Demand deal with C4 extended by Equity Council

Equity Council at its April Meeting endorsed the following proposal to extend the existing Video on Demand agreement with Channel 4 for its 2008 service. A reconciliation of the earlier 2006/7 VoD agreement was also agreed.

Did Endemol break the law on THE ONE AND ONLY?

Endemol, producer of hit BBC tribute act show The One And Only, may have broken the law by refusing to pay their contestants at least the national minimum wage, according the legal advice obtained by Equity, the performers’ union. Equity has raised this matter with the National Minimum Wage section of HM Revenue and Customs.

Survey findings show backing for union approach

Equity Council at its meeting September 4, 2007 endorsed a limited, but significant, number of changes to the existing Equity/PACT Television Production Agreement.A survey of Equity members has found significant support for a single television agreement and backs the union’s approach to future payments for the use of television work.
