Date set for important talks
Equity will meet with representatives of all the major broadcasters and independent producers in the British television industry this October.The union hopes these talks will represent the first steps towards a pan-industry agreement that will bring together the best of the many individual deals that currently exist.

Negotiations on behalf of the cast of ITV drama The Bill not only secured the performers a fee for their work but also won them to the right for a further payment of 100% of their initial fee when downloads exceed an agreed level.

Deal in new media adverts
For the first time in almost a decade, Equity has held talks with the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) to discuss a deal on behalf of members working in television advertisements, spurred by demands by broadcasters for new media usage.
