Deal for The Bill cast on podcasts

Coppers for podcasts

Negotiations on behalf of the cast of ITV drama The Bill not only secured the performers a fee for their work but also won them to the right for a further payment of 100% of their initial fee when downloads exceed an agreed level.

Even though the podcasts are free for users to download, Equity has successfully argued that the artists involved deserved to be rewarded appropriately if their work is successful.

“The work our members do is central to the success of these new media platforms,” Equity organiser Cathy Hollins said. “It is only right that they receive a fair share of the money being generated.”
