What should I get paid for a role in a viral commercial? I was offered a buyout for very little money – is this right?
No, this is not correct. The guideline rates for commercials that appear on a website are 100% of your basic studio/session fee for three months usage. This is for one website only. Equity’s stance is that because there is no time limit for a viral and there is no control over the commercial once it is sent, the fee should begin at a minimum of 600% of the basic studio/session fee.
