Shrinking credits
Posted on April 7, 2008
What is Equity doing about the growing phenomenon of broadcasters shrinking programme credits and speeding them up to the point that they become unreadable?
The issue of credits is a very important one to Equity. Credits are vital for actors’ careers and we understand your future work is reliant on being known and identified. Equity has instigated a campaign to persuade broadcasters to stop this practice and ensure that credits are readable. Please refer to www.equity.org.uk for more details about the campaign.
In all our negotiations for a single pan-industry television agreement, we continue to emphasise the importance of credits and will ensure they remain part of any future agreements. We have asked broadcasters to explore alternative methods of delivering credits, such as having them at the beginning of the programme or using websites to provide viewers and industry professionals with further credit information.
